Mr Hamed is a Breast surgeon with over 30 years’ experience in treating all aspects of breast diseases both in women and men. He is also the surgical lead for south East London Breast Cancer Screening Program and held the position of Surgical Clinical Lead at Guy’s & St Thomas’ hospital and University hospital Lewisham. He is a teacher and examiner at King’s College London as well as surgical tutor for London Breast trainees and also Breast Audit lead
Mr Hamed is a member of number of learnt societies. He is the breast surgical lead for a unique genetic clinic at Guy’s hospital providing expert MDT management for women carriers of breast cancer genes. He sets on several steering committees for Breast cancer prevention, Breast Cancer Risk Prediction and cancer genetics and Young Onset Breast Cancer and is a PI for number of Breast cancer trials. He has a large number of publications in the field of Beast Diseases, contributed to published books and presented in international Breast conferences
He has special interest in familial and inheritable breast cancer, benign breast disease, breast cancer prevention, oncoplastic breast surgery and reconstruction.
Dr Mark Harries is a Consultant in Medical Oncology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and an honorary senior lecturer at King’s College London. He specialises in the treatment of Melanoma and Breast Cancer.
He graduated from Cambridge University and underwent clinical training at the Royal London Hospital. He trained in Medical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital and completed a PhD and post-doctoral work in the Department of Immunology at University College, London.
His research interests include immunotherapy for melanoma and breast cancer as well as clinical trials of new biological agents for these diseases. He is lead investigator on a number of clinical trials and has published over 50 papers.
He is Chairman of the charity Melanomas Focus.
